Join Our Team as a Mental Health Recovery Worker
Location: Hawkesbury Lodge Residential Service, Coventry
Role: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Rota Work Patterns: Monday–Sunday - 7:30am-7:30pm, 3pm-9pm, 8:30pm-8:30am
Enhanced payments: £0.86 - Unsocial Hours, 1.5 x hourly rate - Bank Holiday
Our Hawkesbury Lodge Service represents an important investment in supporting people across Coventry and Warwickshire on their recovery journey. Developed in partnership with Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, the service combines a 14-bed residential rehabilitation service with an integrated Care Hub, providing a welcoming and recovery-focused environment. Together, these services offer personalised support to people living with severe and enduring mental illness, helping them build confidence, develop greater independence, enhance their wellbeing, and take positive steps towards living successfully within their local communities.
How You Will Make a Difference as a Mental Health Recovery Worker
We are looking for compassionate and motivated Mental Health Recovery Workers to join our team at Hawkesbury Lodge, a 24/7 residential rehabilitation service. Working as part of a supportive team, you will assist with daily living activities, encourage engagement in rehabilitation programmes and community opportunities, and support individuals to achieve their personal goals. Working closely with colleagues and partner agencies, including Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, recovery-focused support that empowers people to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities
Person-Centred Support
- Supported individuals in a 24/7 residential mental health setting.
- Assisted with personal care, daily living activities, and social inclusion.
- Promoted independence, wellbeing, and recovery-focused outcomes.
Key Worker Responsibilities
- Provided one-to-one support and acted as a designated key worker.
- Developed, reviewed, and monitored care, recovery, and safety plans.
- Supported service users to achieve personal goals and aspirations.

Mental Health & Risk Management
- Monitored mental and physical wellbeing, identifying risks and concerns.
- Conducted needs and risk assessments and implemented support plans.
- Escalated safeguarding and wellbeing concerns in line with procedures.
Partnership & Community Engagement
- Liaised with healthcare professionals, external agencies, and community services.
- Supported access to local resources, groups, and therapeutic services.
- Contributed to multidisciplinary reviews and care planning.
Administration & Compliance
- Maintained accurate records, reports, and outcome data.
- Logged incidents, complaints, and service user updates promptly.
- Ensured compliance with safeguarding, lone working, and organisational policies.
Teamwork & Service Improvement
- Worked collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.
- Contributed to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Supported flexible service delivery, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting people with mental illness or in a social care setting
- Good listening skills, empathy, understanding, kindness, patience, and a willingness to learn.
- Understanding of recovery-focused practice and positive risk-taking.
- Ability to assess needs, implement support plans and respond to risk.
- Ability to support individuals to engage in programmes and activities
- Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
- Ability to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Charity's values.
- Excellent administration, organisation and planning skills.
- Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft applications, email and internet.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience of providing personal care including support with eating or drinking/toileting, washing/bathing/dressing/oral care and the care of skin and hair.
- Experience of making a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s situation and needs; to develop, implement and review risk management plans and devise support plans and activities to meet these needs.
- Have a strong working knowledge of mental health and appropriate intervention methods and a supporting qualification.
- Care Certificate or willingness to work towards; Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care.
