Mental Health Support Worker
Position: Mental Health Support Worker
Location: Across Leicester and Leicestershire
Hours:
- 20 hours per week across 4 days (Monday-Friday, daytimes). Some flexibility on the precise working schedule.
Salary: £13.08 per hour
About the Role
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work one to one with Service Users, supporting them to:
- Shop for, plan and prepare meals.
- Clean, cook and do laundry.
- Develop financial management skills.
- Maintain / improve their physical health.
- Build their confidence and self-esteem.
- Develop social links outside their home.
The role will also involve:
- Being part of, and occasionally leading, group activities, trips and other opportunities that add value to the lives of Service Users.
- As required – supporting weekly drop-in sessions which are open to both those living in NH&S scheme and the wider community, ensuring they provide a welcoming and inclusive environment.
About You
We are looking for committed individuals who are driven by a desire to make a real difference to the lives of adults living with mental health diagnoses with:
- A minimum of 3 years demonstrable experience and / or a minimum of level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or similar related subject.
- A positive ‘can do’ attitude, and a willingness to actively support residents with daily living tasks.
- A warm and empathic approach.
- The ability to listen in an active and non-judgmental manner.
- Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations.
- Effective communication & interpersonal skills (verbal and written).

You will also need to be reliable and have access to own transport that ensures swift and smooth transitions between locations in and around Leicester City and Leicestershire (55p per mile paid for use of own vehicle).
