A welcoming specialist school in Oxford City Centre is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to support children with Autism, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, and additional learning needs. This Mental Health Teaching Assistant role offers invaluable experience working alongside experienced teachers, therapists, psychologists, and SEN professionals within a supportive and therapeutic school environment.
Responsibilities
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored support to children throughout the school day.
- Help children regulate their emotions, build resilience, and develop confidence.
- Work closely with children on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Implement strategies to support positive behaviour, encourage engagement in learning, and help children develop communication, independence, and social skills.
- Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing classroom environment where every child can thrive academically and emotionally.
