Thrive Foundation is a UK mental health and recovery charity that supports people in moving from surviving to thriving. The organization offers free, confidential, person-centered support to individuals facing mental health challenges, addiction, homelessness, and complex life circumstances. Services range from one-to-one counselling and crisis support to peer mentoring, community programmes, and recovery pathways into education, volunteering, and employment. Thrive Foundation partners with families, employers, community organizations, and public-sector bodies to make mental health support more accessible and inclusive. Rooted in lived experience, the charity focuses on rebuilding confidence, relationships, independence, purpose, and hope through compassionate, practical, and professional support.
Role Description
This is a part-time remote role for a Mental Health Volunteer. The volunteer will support individuals experiencing a range of mental health challenges by providing empathetic listening, encouragement, and practical guidance within Thrive Foundation’s person-centered framework. Day-to-day tasks may include participating in virtual check-ins, assisting with case follow-ups, helping with signposting to appropriate services, and contributing to peer support and online community activities. The volunteer may also support administrative tasks related to client records, coordinate remote group sessions, and collaborate with staff and partners to maintain continuity of care. Training and supervision will be provided, and volunteers are expected to maintain confidentiality, uphold safeguarding standards, and work in alignment with Thrive Foundation’s values and policies.

Qualifications
- Understanding of Mental Health Care and foundational knowledge of Mental Health conditions.
- Background or studies in Psychology and awareness of trauma-informed and recovery-focused approaches.
- Ability to support basic Case Management tasks, such as documenting interactions and following agreed support plans.
- Skills or training in Crisis Intervention, including recognizing risk, responding calmly, and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Strong active listening, communication, and empathy skills, with a commitment to non-judgmental, inclusive practice.
- Ability to work remotely with reliability, good time management, and basic digital literacy (email, video calls, secure systems).
- Experience volunteering or working in mental health, social care, education, or community settings is beneficial.
- Awareness of safeguarding, confidentiality, and ethical boundaries in supporting people with complex needs.
- Willingness to undertake training, supervision, and background checks as required.
