Role Description
The Mentor role is a volunteer, remote position focused on providing one-to-one and group guidance to individuals from underserved communities. Mentors spend time listening to mentees’ goals, offering practical advice, sharing professional and life experiences, and supporting mentees in building confidence and skills. Mentors collaborate with the Inspiring Leadership Foundation team to align mentoring activities with program objectives, participate in occasional virtual training or community sessions, and uphold safeguarding and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, active listening, and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport across diverse backgrounds.
- Coaching or mentoring experience, including goal setting, giving constructive feedback, and supporting personal and professional development.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and maintain consistent availability for scheduled sessions.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and social impact, with sensitivity to the needs of underserved communities.
- Professional experience in any field that can offer valuable insights to mentees; experience with youth development or community programs is an advantage.
- Comfort using digital tools for virtual meetings, communication, and documentation.
- Willingness to complete any required training, adhere to safeguarding policies, and maintain confidentiality.
