Job Introduction
We currently have a vacancy for an MEP Asset Lead here at SCS JV, specifically supporting the Shafts & Headhouses Delivery Unit.
About The Role
Manage the Design & Delivery of the Mechanical (inclusive of HVAC), Electrical, Public Health, active & passive Fire & Comms scope on a specific Asset designated by the MEP Senior Project Manager. Lead, Manage and drive the works, in accordance with the Contract Programme, to best commercial advantage, without prejudice to the health and safety of employees, sub-contractors or the public at large and taking into full account environmental considerations.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage, supervise and mentor an MEP SCS Asset team to manage the Supply chain to enable them to optimise their work contribution and successfully deliver the scope.
- Develop and review programmes, assess actual programme the productivity achieved, reviewing weekly and assessing Monthly, taking action where appropriate.
- Forecasting the MEP budget at the Asset, owning the Programme and Commercial Risk and Ensuring that any change to the SWI is captured and recorded
- Reporting change to the associated Discipline Package Managers and Commercial team, raising Early Warnings where necessary and holding Risk Reductions where required.
- Ensure only competent, qualified and trained operatives are engaged on site to deliver the works.
- Ensure communication to the Technical Assurance, QA and Commercial teams non-conformances and any instructions received from the client / designer / RE’s staff. Ensure that comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works are maintained.
- Ensure that inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works are reviewed, approved and adhered to.
- Produce daily reports for progress monitoring, recording resources and monitoring control of project cost
- Development and submission of construction phase plans for M&E Works, eg M&E Permit procedures
- Interfacing with all internal and external stakeholders planning.
- Key point of contact for clients for project progress
- Set the highest example for Health and Safety Requirements
- Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

The Ideal Candidate
- Extensive experience in the management of Mechanical (inclusive of HVAC), Electrical, Public Health, active & passive Fire, BMS & Communications systems (including SCADA) of on a major Rail project including management, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover.
- Experience in interfaces with High Voltage, HVAC, Public Health, Fire Systems, Communications and Tunnel Ventilation.
- Knowledge of industry regulations for design, construction and testing and commissioning of building services (e.g. BS 7671 and Building Regulations).
- Experience of M&E in a Self Assurance contract environment
- HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related subject.
- Expert knowledge of products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
- Strong leadership, communication and conflict management skills
- Relevant CSCS Card
- SMSTS
- Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system).
- First Aid Trained
- LV Authorised Person trained would be an advantage
- Experience with managing NEC projects
- Competent in the use of Primavera planning, would be an advantage to be able to use Aphex planning or other platforms

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services
The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
