About the Role
CBRE Project Management is seeking an experienced Cost Manager to join our team supporting one of our largest global financial services clients. Working as part of a dedicated account team, you will play a key role in delivering strategic cost management across a diverse portfolio of projects.
This is a client-facing position with a strong emphasis on pre-construction cost management, partnering closely with project managers, designers, consultants, and stakeholders to influence project outcomes from the earliest stages. Whilst the role is heavily front-end focused, you will remain involved throughout the full project lifecycle, providing commercial oversight from initial feasibility through to project close-out.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative, high-performing team on complex workplace and corporate real estate projects across a prestigious global banking portfolio.
Pre-Construction
- Provide commercial input into the 'Corporate Services Capital Plan' (CSCP) for the MEP Asset Replacement across their EMEA Portfolio for the next 5 years.
- Produce high-level Rough Order of Magnitude budgets using market knowledge and scope provided by CBRE Engineering Team for approval by the client.
- Implement Value Management and Value Engineering processes to ensure design is aligning to budget.
- Support the project approval process by engaging with the client's finance team to calculate the P&L to determine financial viability.
- Lead procurement of project team (Architect, PM, CM, Engineer) and use the in-house procurement system to issue and review RFPs. Following analysis of the submissions, provide a recommendation to the client.
- Produce Purchase Order and Task Orders for Consultants and General Contractors against existing Framework Agreements, liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and timely approval.
- Ad Hoc MEP Support - i.e. budgetary advice for cost estimates, producing tender packs as well as reviewing tender returns for MEP specifically.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
