MEP Design Manager
At Bouygues UK, we seek a MEP Design Manager to support our MEP Unbundled strategy. This approach will reduce our reliance on the external market supply chain, aiming to ensure better quality, safety, and control over project timelines.
You will provide design management for the business region(s), with responsibility for the complete MEP design delivery for allocated projects; from prequalification to completion with an emphasis on preconstruction (generally but not limited to RIBA Plan of Work Stages 3 to 6 / BSRIA BG6 Stages 3 to 6). Our MEP project values typically ranging from £5M - £130M. You will build and lead effective relationships with the Client, MEP Consultants, Digital Engineering Coordinators, MEP Sub-Contractors and Specialist CDP Designers and Installers.
You will be based in London and supporting the design delivery of projects in London and the South East and cover various sectors Residential, Schools, and Commercial Office developments.
Skills Knowledge & Experience
- Significant experience within a Design Management role within a Main Contractor or Tier 1 MEP Sub-Contractor Environment.
- HND / NVQ in a Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services subject are preferable, but we’d also consider people qualified by experience.
- Proven experience of MEP design management on 25M+ projects or multiple smaller projects.
- Robust understanding of project lifecycle, including RIBA and BSRIA works stages.
- Good and broad knowledge of both Mechanical and Electrical services, with knowledge of contemporary design approaches, technologies and solutions.
- Ability to communicate, inspire and motivate.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
- Effective communication skills and stakeholder management, both internally and externally.

Key Activities And Accountabilities
- Member of the MEP Unbundled Strategy Core team.
- Support MEP Technical Director in delivering the design and technical engineering management strategy.
- Management of customer and MEP and Digital Engineering Consultant relationships for allocated project.
- Prepare and implement MEP consultant appointments.
- Support and assist the MEP project teams in defining the design and construction delivery strategy.
- Support in the production of sub-contractor scope documents and interface schedules / matrices.
- Responsible for Designing for Safety and CDM.
- Undertake design reviews to ensure designs are complete and coherent.
- Undertake and liaise with the statutory authorities and ensure coordination with the design.
- Monitor and manage MEP design progress.
- Manage design and technical risks.
- Obtain Technical authorisation of major packages, plant and equipment.
- Validate site installation and system operation against the design.
- Promote the BYUK policies and Key Values and function as role model in demonstrating behaviours.
