Job Summary

The MEP Lead will act as Package Manager and Technical lead for all MEP design activities on the West Suffolk Hospital project on behalf of Dragados reporting the Design & Engineering Lead, with the following main primary functions:

  • Management and coordination of all MEP design related activities
  • To ensure that the MEP design represents best value and minimum risk for the project.
  • Design calculations and checks of MEP elements which are to be under Dragados design liability where the designs are within the competency of the Technical Lead.
  • To provide Assurance to London Underground that the MEP design works are fit for purpose and compliant with the project’s technical requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in appointment of design team and management of design team contracts to cost, time, quality & safety requirements.
  • Manage the creation of the project design management plan and ensure all members of the design team are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Manage the production and co-ordination of the design programme, Employers Requirements and design deliverables schedule throughout the project.
  • Manage the delivery of design in accordance with the design management plan and design brief, including client requirements, cost, programme, best practice design standards, design responsibilities, BIM strategy and contract agreement.
  • Chair Design team meetings and other design orientated meetings.

Technical Competencies

  • Communication skills (including presentation skills) in English, and the ability to report at both Project and Board level.
  • Knowledge of the relevant regulations, including:
    • Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
    • Construction Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations 1996
    • Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007
    • Management of health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999
    • Building Safety Act 2022
  • Organisation skills.
  • People management/ team building skills.
  • Computer skills, including a working knowledge of BIM, Revit, and the use of collaborative platforms.

Qualifications, Certifications And Experience

  • Educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in a numerate discipline, typically Engineering discipline (or related). A lower educational level, typically HNC or HND, may be acceptable where significant level of experience in a senior technical engineering role can be demonstrated.
  • Membership of an appropriate Professional body or an international equivalent professional status.
  • Extensive experience in MEP Design & MEP Design Coordination.
  • You have dealt with MEP designers, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Experience in projects encompassing similar works schemes (type, size, complexity and environment).
  • Appropriate CSCS.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects to time and budget, together with an exemplary safety, quality and sustainability record.
