MEP Manager – Residential | Guildford, Surrey

Location: Site-based, Guildford

Salter Grange is partnering with a well-established main contractor to appoint an experienced MEP Manager to their residential project in Guildford. This is an opportunity to join a contractor with a strong pipeline of residential work across the South East, taking ownership of building services delivery on a high-profile scheme.

The Role

As MEP Manager, you'll take full responsibility for the mechanical, electrical and public health packages from design through to commissioning and handover. Working closely with the Project Manager, design team and specialist subcontractors, you'll make sure the MEP installation is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the MEP design process, coordinating with consultants and subcontractors to resolve clashes and keep design on track
  • Review and approve technical submittals, drawings and specifications
  • Oversee subcontractor performance on site, including quality, progress and health and safety
  • Develop and maintain MEP programmes in line with the overall project schedule
  • Lead testing, commissioning and witnessing, making sure systems are fully operational at handover
  • Manage the O&M and handover documentation process
  • Support the commercial team with procurement, variations and cost control on MEP packages
  • Make sure all works comply with Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act and relevant industry standards

About You

  • Proven experience as an MEP Manager or Building Services Manager working for a main contractor
  • A mechanical background is strongly preferred (HVAC, ventilation, heat pumps, plumbing and drainage)
  • A solid working knowledge of electrical systems
  • Residential experience, ideally on multi-unit or high-density schemes
  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (HNC, HND or degree)
  • SMSTS and a CSCS card
  • Strong communication skills and confidence managing subcontractors and design teams
  • Familiarity with low-carbon technologies and sustainability requirements is an advantage
