Construction Project Management Associate – MEP / Building Services
Location: Central London & Docklands
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, Days
Salary: OTE £75,000 +++ made from Salary £53,000-£55,000 + Extensive OT + Benefits
A leading global facilities and property organisation is looking for an experienced Construction Project Management Associate to join its technical project delivery team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced building services or electrical professional who wants to move further into project management and take ownership of construction and engineering works within a complex, operational environment.
You will act as a key point of contact for project-related works, coordinating specialist contractors and engineering teams while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed processes, standards and timescales.
The role combines technical building services knowledge with contractor management, project coordination, health and safety, permit control and on-site project oversight.
The Role
You will support and coordinate a wide range of MEP, building services and construction projects, working closely with internal stakeholders, engineering teams, customers and third-party contractors.
You will be responsible for ensuring that project activities are properly planned, controlled and delivered, with particular focus on safety, quality, compliance and minimal disruption to the operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a first point of contact for project-related works, inspections and surveys, including out-of-hours activities where required.
- Supervise contractors and third-party vendors on site, including electrical, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing and specialist engineering contractors.
- Escort contractors and vendors delivering works within the building and ensure activities are undertaken in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Coordinate engineering attendance and specialist resources required to support project delivery.
- Process and manage permits to work and ensure appropriate controls are in place before works commence.
- Review RAMS and provide initial approval in accordance with company procedures and delegated authority.
- Conduct site walk-rounds and inspections to identify potential issues, defects, risks and project snags.
- Carry out isolations where appropriately authorised and ensure safe working practices are maintained.
- Undertake Health & Safety inspections, particularly within non-demised/common areas.
- Work closely with Health, Environmental and Safety teams to implement effective processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure contractors, suppliers and project team members comply with company operating procedures, policies and safety standards.
- Identify and escalate non-compliance, unsafe practices or other concerns to management.
- Obtain quotations from third-party contractors and support the procurement of project works.
- Review work completion documentation, receipts and project records.
- Ensure all required handover documentation, certification and project close-out information is completed and available.
- Produce detailed weekly project status reports and communicate project progress, risks and issues to senior management.
- Gather and analyse project information to identify problems, trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Investigate complex or unusual issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve project delivery, efficiency and customer experience.
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams, customers, contractors and supply partners.
- Ensure all project activity is undertaken safely, professionally and in accordance with company standards.

What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with a strong technical building services background who is comfortable operating in a project-led and customer-focused environment.
You will ideally have:
- An electrical qualification or recognised electrical engineering background.
- Approximately 6+ years' experience within building services, facilities management, engineering or construction environments.
- Strong knowledge and awareness of the facilities management and building services industry.
- Practical experience working with contractors, subcontractors and supply partners.
- Experience coordinating or supervising MEP/building services works.
- Experience with permit-to-work processes and contractor control.
- Good understanding of RAMS, health & safety procedures and site compliance.
- Experience conducting site inspections, surveys and project walk-rounds.
- Understanding of isolations and safe systems of work.
- Experience coordinating engineering attendance and specialist contractors.
- Strong understanding of project documentation, handover requirements and certification.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple activities and priorities simultaneously.
- An inquisitive and proactive mindset, with the confidence to challenge issues and identify better ways of working.
- Ability to assess complex or unusual problems and communicate solutions clearly and logically.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
