Project Planner

Make the move from the tools into Project Planning

Have you built your career delivering projects on site as a qualified 4th year MEP apprentice, Pipefitter or electrician? Are you the person who naturally thinks ahead, plans work, coordinates with other trades and enjoys solving programme challenges before they become problems?

If so, this could be the opportunity to take your construction knowledge into Project Planning.

At Laing O'Rourke, our planners are integral members of the project leadership team. They influence how projects are delivered, helping teams plan smarter, manage risk and make informed decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

We're looking for experienced Electricians and Pipe Fitters who want to build a long-term career in planning. If you've developed a strong understanding of construction sequencing, installation activities, coordination with other trades, programme delivery and stakeholder communication, we'll help you develop the specialist planning skills needed to succeed.

The Opportunity

As a Project Planner, you'll work alongside project delivery teams to develop, maintain and improve construction programmes that drive successful project outcomes.

You'll use your practical site knowledge to understand how work is delivered, identify risks and opportunities, monitor progress and support project teams in making informed decisions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
