About The Role
As Merchandise Planner for our Dog Toys category, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of one of our most high-profile product areas. Partnering closely with the Senior Buyer, you'll help define and deliver the category strategy, using customer, market and trading insights to build compelling ranges that drive sales, profitability and customer engagement.
This is a highly commercial role with a strong strategic focus. You'll lead the planning and forecasting process, using data and trend analysis to inform range decisions, stock investment and long-term category plans. From supporting range reviews and range-building sessions through to managing stock, markdowns, clearance activity and day-to-day trading performance, you'll have end-to-end ownership across the category lifecycle.
Alongside business-as-usual trading, you'll play a key role in wider project and business planning activity, helping to drive continuous improvement and deliver strategic initiatives across the merchandising function. There may also be opportunities for international travel to support supplier and range development activities.
We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running, bring strong commercial judgement, and confidently influence decisions through insight-led recommendations. This is an opportunity to make a real impact within a category that continues to attract significant investment, attention and growth across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
