About The Role
We are looking for a Merchandiser to join us on a permanent contract covering all aspects of Merchandising for our Phase Eight Brand.
As our Merchandiser you will partner with our Buying team to trade the range commercially to maximise profit and minimise markdown. Working at pace with a strong bias towards action and delivery is key in this role; you will focus on planning and forecasting for the department including stock management, OTB and reporting on category performance.
What you'll do:
- Taking ownership of multiple departments to deliver planned sales, margin, markdown and terminal stock targets on your department through effective planning and in season trading
- Planning allocations and stock packages for stores, liaising with the DC and wider merchandising team to identify category risks and opportunities, recommending activity to increase sales and profit and decrease stock risk
- Managing the development of the range in partnership with Buying and Design and in line with option plan, department OTB, planned ASP and intake margin
- Conducting full lessons learnt and using this to develop short- and long-term strategies, decision making both in season and for the future
- Working collaboratively across all Central Teams (Head Office) departments

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
