The Opportunity

We're working with a successful and growing business looking to appoint an Assistant Merchandiser to support its planning, stock management and supplier operations function.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their merchandising career within a fast-paced commercial environment. You'll play a key role in ensuring products are available at the right time, in the right quantities, helping to maximise sales performance whilst maintaining efficient stock levels.

Working closely with internal teams and international suppliers, you'll gain exposure to the full product lifecycle, from forecasting and purchasing through to inventory management and performance analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support stock planning activities to optimise availability and minimise excess inventory
  • Assist with forecasting, budgeting and category planning processes
  • Manage products throughout their lifecycle, from introduction through to clearance
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and inventory data within planning systems
  • Coordinate purchase orders and stock replenishment across a large product portfolio
  • Build effective relationships with international suppliers and support ongoing negotiations
  • Monitor shipment schedules, container utilisation and inbound stock movements
  • Work closely with logistics partners to ensure timely deliveries and resolve supply issues
  • Produce regular stock, sales and performance reports
  • Provide insight and analysis to support commercial and trading decisions
  • Identify risks, opportunities and slow-moving inventory to support effective stock management
  • Contribute to weekly trading reviews through data-led reporting and recommendations

About You

  • Previous experience within Merchandising, Demand Planning, Inventory Management or a similar analytical role
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Commercially aware with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Able to manage multiple priorities within a fast-moving environment
  • Confident communicator who can build relationships across suppliers and internal teams
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and data analysis
  • Experience of retail, e-commerce, wholesale or supply chain environments would be advantageous
