About the Role
Our client, a £multi-million charity with a strong retail arm, is seeking a commercially sharp, hands-on Merchandiser to take ownership of stock trading and maximise the financial return from donated stock.
The role will use sales and stock data, alongside commercial judgement, to determine which stores are best placed to sell different products. Responsibilities include:
- Allocating stock quickly
- Replenishing strong sellers
- Identifying and moving slow-moving stock
- Setting prices that balance speed of sale, stock levels and overall financial return
Building strong relationships with stores, warehouse, CSR, supply chain and planning teams will be essential. The Merchandiser will stay close to what is happening on the shop floor and in the warehouse, responding quickly to opportunities and resolving issues. This is a hands-on role requiring someone comfortable working directly with stock and colleagues. An Assistant Merchandiser reports in.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
