Merchandising Assistant
Reports to: Founder
Location: Manchester, Northern Quarter
Working arrangement: Full-time, Hybrid (2-3 days in office)
About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious, detail-obsessed Merchandising Assistant to run merchandising, global supply chain, and day-to-day e-commerce operations.
In a fast-growing luxury apparel brand, merchandising and operations are two sides of the same coin.
You’ll be the engine ensuring purchase orders land on time, freight moves smoothly across borders, 3PL partners hit intake SLAs, and Shopify is flawlessly set up for trading and new product drops.
We need someone who hits the ground running. You must already know your way around the back end of Shopify, understand inventory inside out, and possess the proactive drive to solve critical path bottlenecks before they ever impact sales.
What You’ll Do
- Shopify Catalog & Inventory Setup: Build, launch, and maintain product listings on Shopify, handling SKUs, EANs/barcodes, variants, pricing, tags, inventory allocation, and metadata with zero errors.
- Critical Path & Intake Management: Own the production critical path from PO creation to warehouse receipt, proactively chasing supplier deadlines and mitigating stock delays.
- Global Freight & Logistics Coordination: Coordinate multi-modal freight (air, sea, road) across international markets (UK, US, AUS), working directly with freight forwarders to optimize routes, consolidate shipments, and control landed cost per unit.
- Import, Export & Compliance: Manage commercial shipping documentation, customs clearance, HS tariff codes, country of origin tracking, and cost price accuracy across our systems.
- 3PL & Fulfillment Operations: Interface daily with our 3PL warehouse to provide accurate inbound delivery forecasts, monitor intake within agreed SLAs, and resolve inventory discrepancies swiftly.
- Trading Analysis & Range Planning: Build and update weekly line reports, sales databases, and linecards; track line-by-line stock cover and deliver clear commercial insights for weekly trade meetings.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
