The Role Outline: The Executive Brief
As our Merger & Acquisitions Technical Services Manager, you are the critical bridge between our commercial investment dreams and the physical reality of the asset. You will lead the technical due diligence on all prospective hotel acquisitions and development Property Improvement Plans for partner investors. Before we sign on the dotted line, you will assess the physical condition, development constraints, and hidden capex risks of every site to ensure our multi million pound investments are totally robust, deliverable, and aligned with the Village brand.
Why Village?
At Village, we do hospitality a little differently. We are all about personality, genuine connections, and creating truly unique hotel environments including lively spaces for our guests to work, eat, relax, and play.
We are entering an incredibly exciting period of commercial expansion, and we need a brilliant technical mind who does not just want to write reports, but wants to actively shape the future of a growing hospitality portfolio. If you have a serious technical pedigree and the emotional intelligence to partner seamlessly with senior stakeholders, and are an exceptional communicator then we will give you the autonomy to drive this strategy. Because it really does take a Village.
How The Village Thrives
We live our culture through three simple commitments:
- We Can & We Do: We show up to make a genuine difference and do fantastic work every day, with purpose.
- We Will: Treat each other with respect and dignity. No ego, no drama. We try our best and look out for each other.
- We Care: We care about our impact on guests, the community, and each other.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your Remit: What You Will Actually Be Doing
We do not just need a consultant; we need a highly commercial technical leader. We trust you to handle:
- The Due Diligence: Getting your hands dirty. You will lead the technical assessment of existing hotels and development sites, scrutinising everything from MEP systems and structural integrity to fire safety, life safety, and environmental compliance.
- The Commercial Bridge: Protecting the investment. You will work directly with the M&A Director, quantifying the financial impact of your technical findings so they are fully reflected in the acquisition underwriting, capex estimates, and transaction negotiations.
- The Design & Planning: Shaping the vision. Following an acquisition, you will lead the technical input, managing architects, interior designers, and specialist consultants to ensure the design perfectly balances guest experience with lifecycle costs and operational efficiency.
- The Strategy & Delivery: Building the framework, you will develop robust Technical Services Agreements (TSAs), and for broader projects, you will scope out Consultant Framework Agreements (CFAs) to ensure our external partners deliver exactly what we need on budget.
How We Succeed Together
We do not micromanage. It takes a Village, so we believe in Ownership & Integrity, giving you the autonomy to take calculated risks, challenge assumptions, and advise the Board. We champion teamwork, hate corporate jargon, and desperately want you to succeed.
