About The Role
As M&A Senior Manager, you will be a key member of BT Group’s M&A team within Strategy & Change, helping to shape and deliver transactions that support the Group’s long-term strategy and create sustainable value. You will support and, where appropriate, lead acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, working across the full transaction lifecycle from the early assessment of opportunities and strategic options through to due diligence, execution and integration planning.
You will work closely with M&A leaders and senior stakeholders across BT, bringing together colleagues from strategy, finance, legal, commercial, technology, operations and regulatory teams. Your analysis will help leaders understand the strategic rationale, financial value, risks and practical implications of each opportunity, enabling clear and evidence-based decisions.
This is a high-profile and varied role with exposure to senior leaders, external advisers and potentially Board-level decision-making. It will suit someone who combines strong commercial judgement and financial analysis with the confidence to challenge constructively, communicate complex issues simply and keep multiple workstreams moving in a fast-paced and often confidential environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assess and help deliver acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and strategic partnerships.
- Evaluate strategic options, including whether BT should build, buy or partner, and develop target pipelines with business teams.
- Build and review valuations, financial models, business cases and returns analysis to support senior decisions.
- Coordinate commercial, financial, legal, operational, technology and regulatory due diligence, highlighting key risks and value drivers.
- Manage transaction plans, governance, adviser activity, workstream deliverables and data room processes.
- Prepare clear papers and presentations for senior leaders, ExCo members and the BT Plc Board.
- Support integration planning, synergy assessment and post-close value tracking.
- Coach junior colleagues and promote high standards of analysis, collaboration and delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
