Who You Are / Your Next Challenge
As part of our continued expansion into the trading market for metals critical to the energy transition, PetroChina International London (PCIL) is seeking to appoint a commercially-minded Metals Analyst to support the growth and development of our global non-ferrous metals trading activities.
Initially, the successful candidate will have a strong focus on the global Copper market, specifically Copper Cathodes, supporting traders through the development of fundamental supply and demand analysis, market forecasting, and price outlooks. As our metals business continues to evolve, the role is also expected to expand into Aluminium market coverage, specifically primary aluminium, providing an exciting opportunity to broaden your expertise across the wider non-ferrous metals complex over time.
Based in our London, Charing Cross office, you will work directly alongside traders and senior stakeholders, developing proprietary insights into production, consumption, trade flows, inventories, and pricing dynamics across key global markets including China, Europe, North America, and Latin America.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
