Meter Engineer Responsibilities & Duties
- Size, design and implement metering systems for gas, water, and oil.
- Assist in the development of new metering technology.
- Install, maintain, and repair metering devices and associated communication systems.
- Conduct regular meter inspections to ensure accuracy and performance.
- Calibrate meters and resolve any discrepancies in readings or data.
- Analyse and interpret meter data for utility management and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and resolve metering issues.
- Develop and document maintenance schedules, procedures, and systems for meter operations.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and training to staff and clients regarding metering equipment and software.
- Highly proficient in Excel/macros
- Experience with PLC or flow computer programming.

Meter Engineer Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience in the installation, maintenance, and calibration of metering devices and gas metering systems.
- Ability to perform and review flow measurement uncertainty assessments.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for metering systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication skills for effective teamwork and client interaction.
- Familiarity with industry standards, specifically ISO 5167 part V and ISO/TR 12748, and other regulations pertaining to metering systems.
- Experience in project management or supervisory roles.
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex data accurately.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
