Methodology & Assumptions Actuary

About the Role

Do you enjoy solving complex actuarial challenges, turning ambiguity into practical solutions, and influencing how strategic business decisions are reflected on the balance sheet?

We're looking for a Methodology & Assumptions Actuary to join our Business Development team. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of M&G's product innovation and strategic development, helping bring new ideas from concept through to implementation and valuation.

You'll play a leading role in designing and enhancing the methodologies, assumptions and regulatory approaches that underpin our products and transactions. Working closely with teams across Finance, Pricing, Investments, Risk, and more, you'll help ensure that innovative customer solutions can be robustly valued, managed and reported.

This is a role suited to someone who enjoys applying deep technical expertise to new and evolving challenges while influencing outcomes across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of valuation methodologies and actuarial approaches for new products, transactions and strategic initiatives, taking ideas from concept through to implementation.
  • Design and enhance actuarial assumptions and methodologies, ensuring they remain technically robust, commercially appropriate and aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Investments, Finance, Risk, Product Development and Actuarial to deliver innovative customer propositions and strategic business solutions.
  • Support the integration of new products, assets and transactions into ongoing valuation, capital and financial reporting processes.
  • Provide expert technical insight on complex actuarial, regulatory and balance sheet matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement by challenging existing methodologies, identifying opportunities for simplification, automation and greater efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of regulatory and accounting interpretations relating to Solvency II, IFRS and emerging industry developments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
