About The Role
Amazing infrastructure isn’t the only thing that gets built here. Incredible careers do too. Join our Major Projects team as a Methods Engineer and you can build something to be proud of.
This role supports the development of optimised construction solutions for complex infrastructure projects across transport and energy, from work winning through to pre-construction delivery. Drawing on knowledge of design, construction methods, temporary works, planning, logistics, and project management, the role works collaboratively with site teams and the wider methods engineering team to develop effective construction methodology solutions.
Sitting within a newly formed and growing team in the Technical Services department, the role offers strong development opportunities and exposure to a range of exciting projects. It is ideally suited to someone seeking a technically focused engineering role that will help them further develop their technical knowledge, with previous construction project experience at Site Engineer or Section Engineer level, or equivalent, preferred.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
