Location: Southwark, London (3 days office based, 2 days WFH)
Salary: up to £29,000
About Metro Safety
Metro Safety has 30 years' experience of working with leading managing agents and property owners as well as major retailers, local authorities, social housing providers and commercial occupiers across the UK. We provide risk assessments, essential testing and maintenance routines and training to help ensure our clients are compliant with fire, health and safety legislation. Our aim is to help clients achieve safety compliance simply and cost-effectively.

About the Role
The Sales Development Representative is an entry-level commercial role focused on generating, qualifying and progressing new sales opportunities. The role combines outbound prospecting, prompt response to inbound enquiries, basic quotation preparation and accurate Salesforce administration, with larger or more complex opportunities handed over to senior Business Development or Account Management colleagues.
The role provides structured training in Metro Safety’s services, pricing, systems and sales processes, and is designed to help the postholder build confidence, commercial understanding and a foundation for future progression in sales or account management.

Key Responsibilities
- Make proactive outbound calls and send follow-up emails to prospective customers, dormant customers and smaller existing customers within agreed target sectors.
- Respond promptly and professionally to inbound sales enquiries by telephone, email, website forms and other approved channels.
- Research prospective customers and relevant contacts using provided lists, LinkedIn, company websites and other approved sources.
- Qualify customer requirements by gathering relevant information about service needs, building profile, timescale, budget where available and decision-making process.
- Arrange meetings or handovers for senior colleagues where opportunities are larger, higher value, more complex or outside agreed ownership limits.
- Prepare accurate quotations using approved pricing guidance once trained, escalating anything outside the approved matrix or role authority.
- Follow up quotations and enquiries consistently, agreeing clear next actions and recording outcomes.
- Maintain accurate Salesforce records for calls, emails, contacts, accounts, leads, opportunities, quotations, next actions and outcomes.
- Support prospect research, list building, targeted outbound campaigns, service promotions, event follow-up and dormant-customer activity.
- Communicate professionally with customers and colleagues, asking for guidance where information is uncertain rather than guessing.
- Work towards agreed activity, quality and pipeline measures once trained, balancing prospecting with inbound enquiries, quotation activity and other priorities.

Experience and Skills Required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence speaking professionally with customers and colleagues.
- Excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage priorities and follow tasks through to completion.
- Basic numeracy and confidence working with pricing, quotations, reports and business information.
- Willingness to learn Metro Safety’s services, systems, Salesforce and Business Development processes.
- Professional, reliable and proactive approach, with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Previous experience in administration, customer service, sales support, CRM, coordination or a similar office-based role.
- Familiarity with facilities management, property, health & safety or fire safety sectors would be desirable.
