JOIN US as a Metrology Engineer, based at our Shepshed manufacturing facility, and we can offer you an opportunity to work in a high-tech, specialist company working with some of the best global names in aerospace, medical, semiconductor and clean energy.

This position requires a Metrology Engineer to grow in to a role to support the measurement strategy and capability for manufacturing technically advanced products. The Engineer will validate measurement processes utilising CMM and vision systems. This role supports the delivery of measuring system capability in line with customer requirements and national standards. You will implement improvements to process capability through structured, data driven problem solving and ensure appropriate tools and governance are in place to support continued, tangible improvements.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Supporting Manufacturing Engineering in front line problem solving and improvement projects within the manufacturing area
  • Interpreting customer requirements/drawings and implementing inspection processes within manufacturing for new product introduction products
  • Verification of manufacturing processes through first article inspection
  • Working in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineers to ensure customer questions and requirements are answered and understood
  • Working in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineers to ensure robust and capable production process and measurement methods are introduced and maintained
  • Applying various methods for new product introduction

Requirements

We are looking for a motivated and versatile term-player with the ability to absorb information quickly and derive satisfaction from a job well done. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills, gained in the workplace:

  • CMM programming experience PC-DMIS/OGP/Mitutoyo and the ability to understand and interpret complex drawings.
  • Understand and interpret datum structures.
  • Experience with CAD models.
  • Knowledge of Measurement systems analysis (MSA)
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) & Process Capability
  • Experience with FAIR/ISIR, PPAP and APQP.
