Owen Daniels are supporting a leading manufacturer operating within a highly regulated industry and is looking to recruit an experienced Metrology Engineer to join their Quality team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in dimensional inspection, optical metrology and precision measurement to play a key role in ensuring product quality and compliance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role

As Metrology Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out dimensional inspections, developing inspection programmes and supporting manufacturing with accurate measurement data. You will work closely with Quality, Engineering and Production teams to ensure components meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programme and operate Nikon NEXIV Vision Measuring Machines (VMM) for dimensional inspection.
  • Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision manufactured components.
  • Produce accurate inspection reports and maintain quality documentation.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T to verify component conformity.
  • Develop and optimise inspection programmes to improve efficiency and repeatability.
  • Support investigations into non-conformances, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Perform calibration and verification of metrology equipment in line with company procedures.
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to resolve dimensional and quality issues.
  • Ensure all inspection activities comply with company quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the quality function.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a Metrology Engineer, Quality Engineer, Inspection Engineer or Dimensional Inspection Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience using Nikon NEXIV, Vision Measuring Machines (VMM) or similar optical measurement systems.
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of dimensional metrology and precision inspection techniques.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
