How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Global Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for shaping and improving supply chain performance across the business, with key production locations in the UK, US and Canada. This strategic and hands-on leadership role will lead supply chain strategy, supplier performance, inventory optimisation, continuity of supply and cross-functional planning, working closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Product Management, Sales and Project Management to support business growth, operational resilience and successful new product introduction.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
Develop and lead supply chain strategy and governance:
- Develop and implement the overall supply chain strategy across the business, aligning supply chain priorities with operational and commercial objectives.
- Lead and support the site supply chain team, creating effective processes, routines and governance to improve performance and consistency.
- Develop, monitor and report key supply chain KPIs including delivery performance, supplier quality, inventory levels, purchase price variance, freight costs and other business-critical measures.

Drive supplier performance, risk management and supply chain improvement:
- Drive supplier and supply chain performance across cost, quality, delivery, inventory, capacity and risk, building strong partnerships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Lead supply chain improvement initiatives including cost reduction, supplier development, inventory optimisation and value engineering activity.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, with particular focus on continuity of supply, lead-time exposure, single-source dependencies and market volatility.
Partner cross-functionally and support planning, NPI and business growth:
- Use ERP/MRP systems and supply chain data to manage demand, purchasing parameters, inventory, forecasting and performance reporting.
- Partner with Engineering, Finance, Operations, Product Management, Sales and Project Management to support planning, make-versus-buy decisions, NPI and long-term business growth.
- Work across key production locations in the UK, US and Canada to support supply chain alignment, operational resilience and measurable performance improvement.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- Proven experience in a senior supply chain, procurement or operations leadership role within a manufacturing or engineering environment; approximately three years at this level is expected.
- Demonstrable experience developing and implementing supply chain strategy, processes and performance improvements.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management across procurement, inventory, planning, supplier performance and operational delivery.
- Experience managing KPIs, inventory, forecasting, supply chain risk, cost reduction and business continuity activity.
- Strong ERP/MRP experience essential, ideally including IFS or a comparable system.
- Experience leading or mentoring teams.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation and supplier development skills.
- Ability to work confidently with multiple functions to balance technical, operational and business requirements.
- Experience driving alignment across a multi-site or group supply chain environment.
- Knowledge of lean principles, value engineering and continuous improvement methodologies would be advantageous.
Education & Certifications
- Relevant degree, apprenticeship, professional qualification or equivalent experience in supply chain, procurement, operations, engineering, manufacturing or a related discipline.
- CIPS qualification, or working towards it, would be beneficial.
Travel & Working Environment
- Based in Bristol with hybrid working: office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
- Role supports key production locations in the UK, US and Canada and may require occasional travel as business needs require.
- Work within a collaborative, technically capable business where procurement and supply chain play a visible role in product, operational and business decisions.
