This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for science, strong attention to detail, and a desire to build their career within a regulated pharmaceutical environment. You'll work as part of a specialist team responsible for microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and maintaining the highest standards of laboratory compliance.
What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you'll support the day-to-day activities of our microbiology laboratory, ensuring testing and monitoring activities are carried out accurately and in compliance with GMP standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing microbiological testing, including:
- Growth Promotion Testing (GPT)
- Environmental Monitoring
- Microbial identification using conventional methods and MALDI-TOF technology
- Reviewing, evaluating and trending microbiological test results where applicable
- Maintaining laboratory cleanliness and housekeeping standards
- Carrying out routine laboratory cleaning in line with schedules and operational requirements
- Performing equipment maintenance checks and coordinating calibration and servicing activities with external providers
- Managing stock levels of critical laboratory consumables and reagents
- Accurately recording data and maintaining laboratory documentation
- Ensuring compliance with MHRA Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations and infection prevention and control requirements
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining a safe, organised working environment

Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a structured laboratory setting and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
You'll bring:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organisational and interpersonal skills
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong data entry and document management skills
- A willingness to learn new skills and develop scientific knowledge
- Previous experience within a laboratory or pharmaceutical environment
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Knowledge of microbiology techniques, including:
- Aseptic technique
- Culturing and plating methods
- Microscopy
- Experience adhering to biosafety requirements and laboratory regulations
