Microfluidics Engineer Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Microfluidics Engineer to join a Cambridge based biotech company. This is a full-time permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and expertise across the company's microfluidic activities, driving the development, integration and application of microfluidic technologies across multidisciplinary projects.
- Lead the experimental validation and iterative optimisation of microfluidic performance, including droplet generation, flow control and droplet sorting.
- Maintain and develop the microfluidic platform, introducing innovative approaches to improve its capabilities and performance.
- Design and develop microfluidic devices and technologies for the high-throughput screening of plastic-depolymerising enzymes.
- Lead microfluidic device fabrication, testing and optimisation.
- Develop and integrate optical and optofluidic systems for the detection, measurement and sorting of droplets.
- Analyse and interpret experimental data to support the development and optimisation of screening technologies.
- Work proactively with researchers across multiple disciplines, including biochemists, chemists, bioinformaticians and other scientific specialists.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of experimental work, results and development activities.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Strong practical experience in microfluidic technology development and experimental optimisation.
- Proficiency with CAD tools used for microfluidic device design, such as AutoCAD.
- A Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A methodical and data-driven approach to experimental work and problem solving.
- Experience with programming for instrument control, such as LabVIEW.
