About the Organisation
You’ll be joining a biotech start-up bringing a new gene synthesis platform to market. The team is small, ambitious and technically driven, and works at the intersection of molecular biology and automation. With support from Innovate UK, the business is moving rapidly from concept to validation and towards near-term commercialisation.

What you'll do
- Lead the design and develop microfluidic devices and fluid handling systems
- Prototype, test and optimise device performance
- Collaborate with molecular biologists and consultants.
- Support the transition from R&D to scalable manufacturing
About you
- MSc in Mechanical, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline
- Strong practical experience designing and developing microfluidic systems as well as designing or integrating custom electronics for microfluidic systems.
- Solid grounding in fluid mechanics and CFD, with practical use of Ansys CFD or equivalent
- Experience with CAD for microfluidics and related electronics
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach
- Ability to work independently and in a small team

Experience in lab-on-a-chip technologies, molecular biology, automation or life science instrumentation would be advantageous but is not essential.
Desirable experience
- Experience working in GMP or quality-driven environments, including SOP development
- Candidates from biotech, diagnostics, medical devices, analytical instrumentation or other microfluidics-focused industries are encouraged to apply.
