Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join our small, highly collaborative cloud and infrastructure team. This role is primarily focused on Microsoft 365 and SharePoint activities but you may also have an opportunity to be involved in other areas that fit with your skill set and business need.
The Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, migration, administration & continual improvement of customer Microsoft 365 environments, with particular ownership of SharePoint Online, Teams & OneDrive. Working across project delivery and managed service, you will translate customer requirements into secure, supportable solutions; migrate content from legacy platforms; automate repeatable activities; and ensure environments are well governed, documented, monitored & handed into support. You will work closely with Technical Architects, Cloud & Infrastructure, End User, Security, Project Management and Customer Delivery teams to provide a consistent, high-quality customer experience.
Core Responsibilities
- Work closely with Technical Architects, Pre-Sales and Project Managers to understand customer requirements and deliver Microsoft 365 & SharePoint solutions on time and on budget.
- Design, configure and support SharePoint Online sites, information architecture, navigation, content types, metadata, permissions and Microsoft 365 group integration.
- Plan and deliver migrations from SharePoint on-premise, file shares and other document repositories into SharePoint Online and OneDrive, including discovery, remediation, migration, validation, cutover and handover.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online and Entra ID, escalating complex platform issues where necessary.
- Use PowerShell, Microsoft Graph and appropriate migration or administration tooling to automate repeatable tasks, bulk changes, reporting, validation and remediation.
- Build and maintain Power Automate workflows and support the transition of appropriate legacy SharePoint workflows and forms to modern Microsoft 365 services.
- Implement governance controls covering site provisioning, ownership, external sharing, access reviews, retention, lifecycle management and data protection in line with customer requirements.
- Produce high-quality technical designs, migration plans, test evidence, as-built documentation, support guides and knowledge articles.
- Ensure new solutions are operationally ready with agreed monitoring, support ownership, security controls, backup or retention requirements and clear escalation paths.
- Provide fault diagnosis & resolution for escalated Microsoft 365 and SharePoint incidents, problems and service requests.
- Identify opportunities to standardise, streamline and automate Microsoft 365 services across customers, reducing manual effort whilst improving consistency and control.
- Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to 1st & 2nd Line teams, enabling a shift-left approach for repeatable support activities.
- Engage confidently with customer stakeholders, site owners and end users during discovery, design workshops, user acceptance testing, cutover and service reviews.
- Stay current with Microsoft 365 roadmap changes, security guidance, deprecations and emerging capabilities, assessing their relevance to customer environments.
- Attend customer sites where necessary.

Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience delivering or supporting Microsoft 365 and SharePoint solutions, ideally within an MSP or multi-customer environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Microsoft 365 groups and Entra ID.
- Experience of SharePoint migration projects, including content discovery, permissions mapping, metadata, version history, validation, cutover and remediation.
- Competence with PowerShell; experience using Microsoft Graph and migration tooling such as ShareGate, Quest or Microsoft-native tools is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of Power Automate and the modernisation of legacy SharePoint workflows or forms.
- Good understanding of Microsoft 365 governance, security, external sharing, retention, compliance and least-privilege access principles.
- Ability to create clear technical documentation, migration plans, test scripts, handover packs and customer-facing reports.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with a structured, evidence-led approach to resolving service and project issues.
- An ethos for scalability, standardisation & automation to reduce operational overhead and improve service quality.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, MS-700, PL-900 or equivalent are highly desirable.
