About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and technically minded Microsoft Technician to join our growing business based at our Head Office in Rainham, Essex.
This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining and supporting our Microsoft environment, ensuring our IT infrastructure remains secure, reliable and up to date. You'll work closely with our IT Specialist, while taking ownership of the day-to-day administration and ongoing development of our Microsoft platforms. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to play a key role in improving our internal IT systems.

As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an IT professional who will play an important role in supporting our infrastructure and helping us embrace new Microsoft technologies.

- Administer and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Manage Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Work alongside our external IT support provider on server infrastructure.
- Administer Microsoft 365 users, licences and services.
- Manage Microsoft 365 security, including mobile device management.
- Support Microsoft Office, Windows and Microsoft 365 technology updates.
- Research and evaluate new Microsoft 365 cloud services, integrations and future technologies.
Desktop & Server Administration
- Maintain approximately 30 desktop PCs, 2 physical servers and 3 virtual servers.
- Perform Windows updates and scheduled system reboots.
- Deploy software updates, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Manage Avast Business Antivirus and the Avast Management Console.
- Carry out proactive system maintenance, including:
- Disk clean-up
- System file integrity checks
- Performance monitoring
- General housekeeping to ensure maximum reliability
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Monitor and maintain company backup routines.
- Administer Acronis and GoodSync backup solutions.
- Verify successful backups and investigate any failures.

- Active Directory
- Group Policy
- Microsoft 365 Administration
- Microsoft Exchange Online
- Microsoft Office
- Windows 10/11
- Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) (desirable)
- Intune / Mobile Device Management (desirable)
- Backup solutions such as Acronis or similar
- Antivirus administration
- Virtualisation technologies (Hyper-V or VMware desirable)

- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues before they impact users
What We Offer
- Competitive salary of £25,000–£35,000, depending on experience.
- Monday to Friday working hours – no weekend shifts.
