Mid-Level Product Engineer (Backend) | Python, SQL, RAG, AWS | AI & Data Infrastructure, Start-up | High Ownership, 0→1 Product Builds | UK remote | £60-80k base

The Company

We're partnering with an early-stage AI company building data-intensive products that help organisations make better decisions from complex information.

They're combining software engineering, data infrastructure, retrieval and applied AI to build a new generation of intelligent products.

They already have customers and are entering their next stage of growth, with a major new product direction and an engineering team to build.

The Role – Product Engineer (Backend) | Python, SQL, RAG, AWS | AI & Data Infrastructure | High Ownership, 0→1 Product Builds | UK remote | £60-80k base

You'll join a small engineering team with significant ownership from day one.

This is a backend-focused Product Engineering role, primarily working across Python, SQL, data and AI, while contributing across the wider product when needed.

You'll work on real customer problems rather than isolated tickets — taking features from an ambiguous idea through to production.

What You'll Be Doing - Product Engineer (Backend) | Python, SQL, RAG, AWS | AI & Data Infrastructure | High Ownership, 0→1 Product Builds | UK remote | £60-80k base

  • Building backend services and APIs in Python
  • Working extensively with SQL / PostgreSQL
  • Building data pipelines and data-intensive features
  • Developing RAG, retrieval and semantic search capabilities
  • Building production AI/LLM features
  • Taking product features from idea → production
  • Contributing across the stack when required
  • Using AI development tools extensively
  • Working directly with senior engineers and product leadership

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
