Role

This temporary Middle Office role supports Cash Equity, ETF, and Equity DMA/Program trading desks, with a strong emphasis on analysing trade flow data, understanding booking mechanics, and identifying inefficiencies across the trade lifecycle.

The role requires stepping back from purely day-to-day booking activity to evaluate processes holistically, uncover root causes of issues (e.g. trade cancellations), and drive improvements through data-led insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse end-to-end equity trade lifecycle (booking → allocation → confirmation → settlement) to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and control weaknesses.
  • Investigate trade cancellations, breaks, and exceptions, using internal data to determine root causes—particularly those driven by process gaps or workflow inefficiencies.
  • Perform daily oversight of reconciliations (Wash Book, Trading Book, FX, FOBO), with a focus on trend analysis rather than just issue resolution.
  • Develop a deep understanding of trade booking practices and front-to-back workflows, identifying inconsistencies and opportunities for standardisation.
  • Move beyond manual processing to evaluate why issues are occurring, not just resolving them.
  • Use data to highlight recurring issues (e.g. allocation delays, booking errors, client mismatches) and recommend actionable improvements.
  • Partner with Trading, Sales, Technology, and Operations to translate findings into process enhancements or system fixes.
  • Track and analyse exception volumes and drivers, producing insights to improve STP rates and reduce operational risk.
  • Challenge existing workflows by asking:
    • Are current processes still required?
    • Can they be automated or simplified?
    • Where are internal gaps causing downstream issues?
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by proposing re-engineering solutions based on data analysis.
  • Escalate issues with clear root cause analysis and supporting data, rather than just symptoms.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
