Job Title

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Middle/Senior Unity Developer R&D based in United Kingdom.

Role Overview

As a Middle/Senior Unity Developer R&D, you’ll help evolve a live mobile game by building new gameplay systems, LiveOps features, and scalable technical solutions.

You’ll work across the full development lifecycle, from implementing new mechanics to improving architecture, performance, stability, and maintainability.

A strong focus of the role is on modern AI-assisted development, with opportunities to integrate AI agents into real production workflows and automate recurring engineering tasks.

You’ll investigate real-world production issues using telemetry and profiling data, ensuring a smooth experience across a wide range of mobile devices.

The role also offers significant technical ownership, including participation in architectural decisions, code reviews, optimization initiatives, and development practices.

You’ll collaborate closely with other technical and product-focused team members while contributing ideas that can improve both engineering efficiency and the game itself.

This is an R&D-oriented opportunity for a developer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, experimenting with new tools, and seeing their work make a measurable product impact.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain gameplay systems and features using Unity and C# within a released mobile game, while evolving architecture and reducing technical debt.
  • Implement and maintain LiveOps functionality, including events, promotions, seasonal content, and A/B testing.
  • Work with Addressables, Asset Bundles, CDN delivery, and Remote Configs to enable content and feature updates without requiring a full application release.
  • Actively use AI agents such as Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent tools in day-to-day development on a real production codebase.
  • Create and maintain internal AI skills, rules, and agent instructions that automate recurring team workflows while taking responsibility for the quality of generated results.
  • Investigate and resolve ANRs, crashes, freezes, OOM issues, and other production problems using real telemetry and diagnostic data.
  • Optimize CPU usage, memory consumption, startup time, application size, and downloadable content for different classes of Android devices.
  • Integrate and maintain advertising, analytics, monetization, and third-party SDKs while ensuring tracking and event implementation remain accurate.
  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to important technical and architectural decisions.
  • Share effective AI-assisted development practices and help improve the team's engineering workflows.
  • Profile and optimize Android and iOS applications using tools such as Unity Profiler, Crashlytics, and Android Vitals.
  • Investigate performance regressions and follow complex technical issues from symptoms through root-cause analysis, implementation, and validation of results.
  • Consider product metrics such as retention, CPI, and LTV when evaluating technical and gameplay decisions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of commercial experience with Unity and C#, including experience working on released mobile games and supporting projects through LiveOps rather than only developing them prior to launch.
  • Strong understanding of Unity project architecture, including design patterns, dependency injection with tools such as Zenject or VContainer, asynchronous programming with UniTask, Unity lifecycle, memory management, and garbage collection.
  • Practical experience with AI development agents such as Cursor, Claude Code, or comparable tools, including the ability to decompose tasks, provide appropriate context from large codebases, and validate generated code.
  • Experience with MCP, including Unity MCP or similar approaches, as well as skills, rules, and agent-instruction workflows.
  • Ability to document team development practices in a way that allows AI agents to reproduce them consistently.
  • Hands-on experience with Addressables, Asset Bundles, CDN delivery, Remote Configs, versioning, caching, and fallback scenarios.
  • Strong profiling and optimization experience across Android and/or iOS, including investigation of ANRs, crashes, OOM issues, and production performance regressions.

  • Experience integrating third-party SDKs for advertising, analytics, and in-app purchases.
  • Familiarity with Git workflows, code review practices, and CI/CD.
  • Ability to take a complex technical problem from symptom identification through root-cause analysis, solution implementation, and verification of the outcome.
  • Understanding of product metrics such as retention, CPI, and LTV.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to technical challenges.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical decisions, and communicate complex engineering topics clearly.
  • Experience in an R&D-oriented environment is advantageous.
  • Professional Ukrainian language proficiency is expected.
