We’re looking for a talented and versatile Midweight Designer to join our small, close-knit creative team. This could be the ideal next step for a designer who has built a strong foundation in their career and is now looking for greater variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to develop across a broad range of creative work.
About the Role
The work at Maverick is extremely varied. One day you might be developing a new visual identity or campaign concept; the next, you could be creating presentation materials, adapting assets across multiple formats, producing social content, or helping to visualize an exhibition or live event.
Some projects begin with a blank sheet of paper, while others involve working carefully within established brand guidelines. Both are important parts of the role.
You’ll work as part of a small creative team in a fast-paced agency environment, collaborating with designers, creatives, account teams, and other specialists to take projects from initial ideas through to finished artwork.
The role combines creative thinking with strong, dependable design craft. We’re looking for someone who can develop ideas, but who is equally comfortable with the essential day-to-day work of producing accurate, well-considered layouts and assets.
What You’ll Be Working On
The role may include:
- AI-assisted visual exploration and content creation
- Brand identities, visual languages, and brand guidelines
- Integrated advertising and communications campaigns
- Presentation design and client-facing creative decks
- Print, digital, and social media assets
- Typography, editorial layout, and information design
- Exhibition, event, and experiential graphics
- Key visuals, image-making, and image retouching
- Artwork adaptation and rollout across different formats
- Motion, animation, or film content, depending on your experience

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

AI and Emerging Tools
AI is becoming part of our everyday creative process. We use it to explore ideas, generate and refine imagery, visualize environments, develop creative routes, and support image and film production.

You don’t need to be an expert in every AI platform. However, you should be interested in its creative possibilities, willing to experiment, and keen to develop your knowledge alongside the rest of the team.
Experience with AI image or video tools would be an advantage, but strong design thinking and traditional design craft remain fundamental to the role.
It Would Also Be Useful If You Have Experience In One or More of the Following
- AI image or video generation
- Exhibition or experiential design
- Creating visual mock-ups and environments
- After Effects or other motion-design software
- Retouching and compositing
- Preparing files for print or digital production
You aren’t expected to be an expert in all of these areas. We’re interested in what you already do well, as well as what you’re excited to learn.
About You
You’re likely to be a designer ready for the next step in your career. You enjoy variety, take pride in the details, and are happy moving between conceptual thinking and hands-on design production.
You’ll be joining a supportive, experienced team where you’ll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, take ownership of projects, and broaden your skills through a genuinely varied mix of work.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to see your portfolio and hear a little about what you could bring to the team.
