About the Company

We're a fast-growing fraud intelligence platform helping retailers and carriers detect, prevent, and stop fraud across every order, claim, and return in real time. As fraud tactics evolve constantly, our platform needs to move just as fast, giving retail businesses the tools to spot and act on suspicious activity before it costs them money.

We're a lean, product-focused team building tools that sit right at the intersection of e-commerce, logistics, and data. We're looking for someone who can jump in and contribute across the stack from day one.

The Role

We're hiring a midweight developer to join our engineering team as a generalist. This isn't a role for someone who wants to specialise in one narrow slice of the stack, you'll be working across front end, back end, data pipelines, and integrations, depending on what the product needs that week.

We're particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience in retail, e-commerce, logistics, payments, or adjacent industries. You'll already understand the operational realities (orders, returns, claims, fulfilment, chargebacks) that our platform is built to protect against, and you'll be able to get up to speed on our domain faster.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building and maintaining features across our web application, APIs, and backend services
  • Working with data pipelines that ingest and process order, claims, and returns data in real time
  • Collaborating closely with product and design to ship features end-to-end
  • Integrating with third-party retail, carrier, and payment platforms
  • Contributing to technical decisions on architecture, tooling, and process as we scale
  • Writing clean, tested, maintainable code and reviewing others' work
  • Helping identify and fix bugs, performance issues, and technical debt

What We're Looking For

  • 2–5 years of professional software development experience
  • A genuine generalist, comfortable moving between front end, back end, and infrastructure as needed
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, logistics, fraud/risk, payments, or a similarly operational industry
  • Strong fundamentals: you can reason about data structures, APIs, databases, and system design without needing a specific framework to lean on
  • Practical experience with modern web technologies (e.g. JavaScript/TypeScript, a common backend language, SQL/NoSQL databases, cloud infrastructure)
  • Comfortable working in a small team with high autonomy and shifting priorities
  • A pragmatic, product-minded approach. You care about shipping things that work and solve real problems, not just elegant code for its own sake
  • Good communication skills; able to explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
