Description

The Midweight Video & Content Designer will help bring the River Island brand to life through engaging, culturally relevant and social-first content. With a strong understanding of social media, you will develop creative ideas and turn them into compelling video and content that connects with our customers, drives engagement and supports commercial objectives.

This role is primarily focused on video editing, content creation and social-first creative thinking. You will be responsible for developing ideas for social content, editing and producing engaging video across organic and paid social channels, and identifying new creative opportunities based on platform behaviours, trends and culture.

You will work from briefs, campaign assets and your own creative ideas to produce content that feels native to each platform. You will have a strong understanding of what makes content perform on social and be able to balance brand storytelling with fast-paced, engaging and commercially effective creative.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop original, social-first ideas for organic and paid social content
  • Take a simple brief, insight, trend or reference and develop it into a clear, engaging social content concept
  • Edit and produce high-quality video content for platforms
  • Develop multiple creative executions and variations from a single idea, adapting content for different audiences, formats, placements and platforms
  • Edit campaign footage, social content, UGC, creator content and other source material into engaging, platform-native video
  • Stay highly engaged with current social media, fashion, cultural and content trends, identifying relevant opportunities for River Island
  • Work closely with the Social Media, Marketing, Creative, Design and wider content teams
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ensure all content is delivered to a high standard, with strong attention to detail
  • Use data, performance learnings and social insights to inform and evolve creative
  • Support the wider creative team with graphic design and motion design

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in video editing for social, social media content creation or a similar creative role, ideally within fashion, retail, lifestyle or a fast-paced consumer brand.
  • Portfolio must demonstrate a strong understanding of social media content creation, including video editing, creative concepts and platform-specific content.
  • Strong understanding of social-first storytelling and what makes video content engaging and effective across different platforms.
  • Strong awareness of current social, fashion, cultural and content trends, with the ability to identify which trends and formats are relevant to the brand.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to turn a brief, insight, trend or reference into a compelling social content idea.
  • Strong editorial eye and attention to detail, with an understanding of what makes content visually engaging and commercially effective.
  • Experience working with different types of source material, including campaign footage, UGC, creator content, photography and other digital assets.
  • Ability to work at pace, manage multiple projects and respond quickly to changing social trends and creative priorities.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to present creative thinking and explain the rationale behind content ideas.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to take initiative and bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the team.
  • Strategic and commercially aware, with an understanding of how creative content can support brand awareness, engagement and commercial objectives.
  • High proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, with strong knowledge of Photoshop and other relevant Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Experience with motion graphics and animation for social content.
  • Graphic design skills and an understanding of typography, layout and visual composition.
  • Experience with workflow and project management tools.
  • Experience using AI tools for creative content development.
