The company’s highly skilled engineering teams design and produce a wide range of security products, including cash safes, storage cabinets, jewellery safes, drugs cabinets, deposit safes, and underfloor safes. SMP Security Solutions specializes in made-to-measure and bespoke units, tailoring each product to specific customer requirements rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions. Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site MIG Welder role based in Telford. The MIG Welder will fabricate and weld components for safes and security cabinets according to engineering drawings and specifications. Daily tasks include:

The role also involves:
- Inspecting finished work
- Carrying out basic maintenance on tools and equipment
- Collaborating with engineers and production staff
- Following all health and safety procedures on the shop floor
The MIG Welder is expected to contribute to efficient production workflows and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
- Strong MIG welding skills, including experience with mild and stainless steel, and be able to produce clean, structurally sound welds.
- Skills in reading and interpreting technical drawings, measuring and marking out materials, and basic fabrication techniques such as cutting, grinding, and drilling.
- Knowledge of workshop and manufacturing safety practices, including safe operation of welding equipment, PPE usage, and adherence to risk assessments and procedures.
- Practical problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to inspect and correct welds and assemblies to meet quality standards.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other production staff.
- Relevant welding qualifications or certifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) and prior experience in an industrial or fabrication environment are highly beneficial.
- Experience working with security products, safes, or precision metalwork, and familiarity with bespoke or custom manufacturing, would be an advantage.
