Location: Colchester and surrounding areas (field-based with regular travel across military establishments)
Reporting to: Regional Manager – North & Overseas
Salary: £30,000 to £34,500 (dependant on experience), plus quarterly performance related bonus
About the Role
We're looking for a customer-focused Military Sales Advisor to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to build trusted relationships within the Armed Forces community, supporting serving military personnel, veterans, MOD employees and their families to better understand their financial options and access suitable products and services.
Using a consultative sales approach, you'll deliver financial awareness briefings, identify customer needs, develop new business opportunities, and provide guidance across a range of insurance, protection, savings and financial products. You'll play an important role in helping customers make informed financial decisions while delivering excellent customer outcomes within a regulated environment.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who enjoys building relationships, working independently, and making a positive difference within military communities. As a predominantly field-based role, you can expect to spend approximately four days per week travelling across military establishments and customer locations. This will involve occasional overnight stays, typically two to three nights per month, depending on business needs and the locations being visited.
What You'll Be Doing
- Building trusted relationships with serving military personnel, veterans, MOD employees and their families.
- Delivering engaging financial awareness briefings and educational presentations.
- Promoting a range of financial products and services, including insurance, protection, savings and investment solutions.
- Identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate products and services.
- Developing new business opportunities through networking, referrals and relationship building.
- Managing a sales pipeline and working towards agreed sales and activity targets.
- Maintaining accurate customer records and completing all sales administration in line with regulatory requirements.
- Working closely with colleagues across the business to deliver positive customer outcomes.
- Building and maintaining relationships within military communities and establishments.
- Ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with FCA regulations, company policies and compliance requirements.
- Completing ongoing training and development to maintain competence and knowledge.
- Travelling regularly across military establishments and customer locations throughout the region.
- Undertaking occasional overnight stays, usually two to three nights per month.

What We're Looking For
Essential
- Proven success in a customer-facing sales role within financial services, insurance, banking, military welfare, or a similar environment.
- Strong consultative sales and relationship-building skills.
- Experience developing new business opportunities and managing a sales pipelines.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience delivering presentations, briefings or workshops to groups.
- Ability to identify customer needs and recommend suitable solutions.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience working in a regulated environment and adhering to compliance requirements.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively within the region.

Desirable
- Experience working with serving military personnel, veterans, MOD employees or military families.
- Knowledge of the Armed Forces community and military establishments.
- Experience within insurance, protection, savings, investments or wider financial services.
- Experience generating referrals and cross-selling products.
- Understanding of FCA regulations and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
- Financial services, insurance or financial planning qualifications.
- Professional sales qualification.
- Military service background or experience supporting the Armed Forces community.
