Safety

• Lead all mill team members to achieve a reduction in accidents and improve safety culture.
• Provide a point of contact for contractors working within the milling areas of site.
• Ensure contractor arrival is anticipated, and work is planned.
• Ensure regular and effective communication on all health, safety and environmental matters.
• Ensure that people who work for you know how to work safely and without risks to health.
• Maintain a positive health and safety culture, where safe and healthy working becomes second nature to everyone.
• Meet your legal duty to protect the health and safety of your teams.
• Ensure all activities on shift are compliant with standard operating procedures.
• Develop and Review Mill Standard operating procedures regularly and maintain compliance.
• Be accountable for all accidents and near misses reported for the mill.

Food Safety and Quality

• Maintain and improve food safety and quality culture, where safe and healthy food production becomes second nature to everyone.
• Follow Tilda Head Office (Classic site) quality management system. Assess and close any gaps.
• Ensure 100% compliance with Mill HACCP plan.
• Work with the QA & Packing Hall teams to ensure any non-conforming product is correctly controlled.
• Provide input to root cause analysis on NCR’s.
• Ensure non-conforming products are recorded and reported. Root cause analysis is carried out timely and to a high standard, to establish cause and implement corrective actions.
• To ensure that the facilities always meet the requirements of the BRC standards.

Delivery

• Lead and coordinate the team to achieve shift and weekly output and efficiency targets.
• Report mill performance and use data to identify top losses.
• Own and lead improvement plan to achieve Mill strategic goals.
• Ensure delivery of shift reliability improvements including mapping changeovers, implementing cleaning schedules, maintaining a high level of hygiene, sharing of best practices across shifts, delivering and reporting KPI’s with SMART objectives for improvement.
• Generate and update a list of key milling consumables to ensure the continuity of spares required for the day-to-day operation.
• Liaise across departments to ensure efficient response to mill issues.

Cost

• Lead and coordinate activities to achieve target yield and OEE.
• Investigating the causes of waste lead projects to deliver improvements.
• Ensure compliance with yield cost standards and drive yield improvements within the mill.
• Assist Mill Manager with temporary labour and Overtime costs and compliance to budget.

Continuous Improvement

• Continuously improving the knowledge and skills of personnel through training and leadership.
• Drive improvements through the mill teams.
• Train and mentor mill team on Lean and operational excellence concepts.
• Lead CI projects identified within a cross functional team.
• Embed a CI mindset throughout the team.
• Lead WinCC and JDE improvement projects.
• Conduct product and blend trials in the Mills.

Arrangement for Absence

• Substitute and Cover for the Mill Managers duties in his absence.
• On call contact, shared between Mill Manager.

Person Specification

• Experienced leader in a food manufacturing environment with relevant / proven track record.
• Able to motivate and lead a team and develop the core values of the business on a continuous basis.
• Self-driven, positive mindset, embracing diversity and equality in a workplace.
• Data driven, analytical and KPI focused, able to impart and share knowledge and experience in training other team members.
• Keen eye for detail and quality and safety focused.

Qualifications/Experience

• Degree or NVQ level qualification in manufacturing.
• Minimum 05 years’ experience in leadership roles preferably in the food industry.
• Rice knowledge or Milling industry experience preferred.
• Forklift and Mobile plant license.
• Advance Microsoft office packages skills.
• MRP and SCADA systems advance skills.
• HACCP trained / CCP trained.
• NEBOSH OR IOSH level safety certification.
• First Aider / Advance First Aider.
• Fire Marshall / Safety Champion.
• Confined space and working at height trained.
• Hygiene and CIP training.
• CI Training.
• Lean Manufacturing training.

Inhouse training and refreshers on Safety and Quality can be provided.
