Mini Bus Driver

Part Time (minimum 16 hours per week)

Overview

Our client is looking for a reliable and compassionate Part Time Minibus Driver to support their care homes by transporting residents safely to appointments, activities, and community outings. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with elderly clients, values safety, and takes pride in providing a friendly, supportive service.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the care home minibus in line with all road and safety regulations.
  • Transport residents to scheduled appointments, activities, and organised trips.
  • Assist residents with boarding and disembarking, including those with mobility needs.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate transport logs, mileage records, and safety checklists.
  • Work closely with care staff to coordinate routes, timings, and resident needs.
  • Provide a warm, patient, and reassuring presence throughout all journeys.
  • Ensure the minibus is kept clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.

Skills

  • Proven experience in commercial driving or as a Delivery Driver with a valid driver's licence.
  • Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Strong driving skills with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent communication skills in English for effective interaction with passengers and team members.
  • Ability to operate vehicles safely over long distances and varied terrains.
  • Good organisational skills to manage schedules and maintain accurate records.
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety standards and road regulations.

Requirements

  • Full, clean UK driving licence (D1 entitlement preferred).
  • Previous experience driving larger vehicles or minibuses is an advantage.
  • A caring, patient, and respectful approach when supporting older or vulnerable adults.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with care staff and families.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and strong attention to safety.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
