Mini-pupillage at XXIV Old Buildings
Mini-pupillage at XXIV Old Buildings offers an opportunity to see what life is like as a junior tenant in chambers and to offer an insight into life at the commercial chancery Bar.
About the Mini-pupillage
XXIV Old Buildings offers mini-pupillages throughout the course of the year. Each lasts two days and runs on a Monday and a Tuesday.
Since mini-pupillage at XXIV Old Buildings is in particularly high demand, and in order to ensure that mini-pupils gain as much as possible from their experience, we prefer applications from those who have commenced their legal studies (law undergraduates, graduates, and those who have commenced or completed the GDL).
Our experience is that prospective pupils are more likely to wish to become pupils at XXIV Old Buildings if they have completed a mini-pupillage with us. We therefore encourage potential applicants for pupillage to consider applying for mini-pupillage with us. We do not, however, require applicants for pupillage to have undertaken a mini-pupillage with us, and our mini-pupillages are not assessed.

Application Process
Applicants for mini-pupillage must submit an application in accordance with chambers’ mini-pupillage application timetable by completing our online application form. Applicants will be required to upload a covering letter and CV, including a breakdown of their degree by module.
Application Timetable
The application form is available during the following periods stated below:
- For mini-pupillages during the period January–April, applicants should submit an application in the period 1st – 15th October of the preceding year. Each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application by 15 November.
- For mini-pupillages during the period May–July and September, applicants should submit an application in the period 1st – 15th February. Each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application by 15 March.
- For mini-pupillages during the period October–November, applicants should submit an application in the period 1st – 15th June. Each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application by 15 July.

Competition for mini-pupillage at XXIV Old Buildings is substantial, and so applications not submitted in accordance with the above timetable will not receive a response and will be rejected.
Expenses
We are committed to attracting the best candidates for mini-pupillage, regardless of background. We therefore offer up to £300 to those selected for mini-pupillage to cover the cost of travel into chambers and/or, if necessary, accommodation in London (to be paid against suitable receipts). Prospective applicants are also advised that Lincoln’s Inn offers a mini-pupillage grant scheme, details of which can be found on the Lincoln’s Inn website.
