The Role
As you will be operating our courtesy shuttle bus service, you will play a crucial role in providing safe, reliable, and friendly transportation for our student residents to and from the accommodation. This position is ideal for a customer-focused individual who enjoys working independently and is committed to ensuring the comfort and safety of our students and will be on a shift basis to cover mornings and afternoons.
As a Minibus Driver your responsibilities will be:
- Operate the shuttle bus on a set route, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off of students at various locations within St Andrews.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service, assisting students with inquiries and providing a welcoming atmosphere.
- Checking that passengers are our students.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections to ensure the shuttle bus is in safe operating condition (windscreen wash, diesel levels, lights etc).
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, ensuring the safety of all passengers.
- Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, and fuel usage.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the shuttle bus, reporting any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Communicate effectively with the SPACE Student Accommodation team regarding schedules, route changes, and any incidents.
- Handle any emergencies or issues that arise in a calm and efficient manner.
- Assist with occasional special trips or events as required.

Operating Days/times
- Term time contracts.
- Mon - Fri
- 8am to 12pm & 3pm to 7pm.
- Occasional work out with term time may be required.
The Person
- Must have a valid full UK D1 driving licence which you have held for a minimum of 2 years.
- Must be 25 + years for Insurance purposes.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of St Andrews and surrounding areas is preferred but not required.
- Clean driving record with a commitment to safe driving practices.
- Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with students.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
