Come and join our team in Wick
One of our colleagues is moving home, which means we have an exciting opportunity for a vet to join our team in Wick.
If you are a vet with at least one or two years of experience and enjoy the variety that mixed practice brings, we would love to hear from you.
We are a friendly, independent and employee owned practice with a team of 17 vets. Our practice is genuinely mixed, with around 50% small animal and 50% large animal work, giving you the chance to enjoy a varied caseload while developing your own clinical interests.
In 2023 we became an Employee Ownership Trust, helping to secure the future of our practice as an independent business. Being independent is important to us, and we are proud to have a team where people know each other, support each other and work together.
A job that fits around your life
We believe that being a good vet should not mean sacrificing your evenings or your life outside work.
Our normal working day is 8.45am to 5.30pm, with a full hour for lunch. We actively encourage everyone to leave the practice for their lunch break and take some proper time away from work.
At 5.30pm, any outstanding work is handed over to the on call team, so you can finish on time and get home to enjoy your evening.
Our small animal consultations are 15 minutes, with additional time built into the diary for client communication. Across our two branches, we have three vets on call, meaning there is always plenty of support available when you need it.

We are ideally looking for someone to join us full time, although we would also be happy to hear from an experienced vet interested in working part time.

- Rectal scanners
- Hydraulic foot tipping crate
- EEJ equipment for bull and tup testing
- Vets trained to carry out post mortems at the local SRUC facility
Equine
- Reproductive and tendon scanner
- Portable X ray
- Power float for dental work
Small animal
- DR X ray
- Ultrasound
- Dental X ray with table side processor
- In house blood analysers
- Multiparameter monitoring
- A range of orthopaedic equipment, including a TPLO kit
With such a varied caseload and an experienced team around you, there is plenty of scope to build confidence, gain new skills and develop the areas of veterinary medicine that interest you most.

Wick and the wider Caithness area offer a fantastic quality of life for anyone who enjoys the outdoors, rural living and being part of a local community.
There are lots of sporting clubs, fitness facilities and outdoor activities to get involved with, as well as a local cinema and a great choice of cafés and restaurants.

What You Can Expect From Us
- Salary of £38,000 to £58,000 depending on experience, with an established pay progression structure
- Professional subscriptions paid
- 29 days holiday each year
- Five days CPD, with a budget that includes travel and accommodation
- Accommodation and a vehicle can be provided
