Role Description
This role is for a skilled mixing and mastering engineer to collaborate on a personal album project inspired by the iconic sounds of 1970s disco, rock, and synthwave pop. The project aims to capture the rich, dynamic, and characterful essence of artists like The Bee Gees and Giorgio Moroder, steering away from modern, overly polished production in favor of authentic vintage warmth. The ideal candidate will have a keen ear for detail and a passion for retro soundscapes, working closely with a solo musician who values creative input and nuanced mixing choices.
Responsibilities
- Mix and master multiple tracks to achieve a vintage, dynamic, and character-rich sound reminiscent of classic 1970s disco and rock records
- Collaborate with the artist to interpret creative direction and feedback, ensuring the final mixes align with the desired retro aesthetic
- Apply analog-style processing, effects, and techniques to enhance warmth and authenticity
- Address revisions and adjustments based on detailed feedback from the artist
- Prepare final masters suitable for digital distribution and potential vinyl pressing

Skills And Requirements
- Proven experience mixing and mastering disco, rock, or synthwave pop projects with a vintage sound
- Deep understanding of analog mixing techniques, tape saturation, and period-appropriate effects
- Proficiency with industry-standard DAWs and plugins emulating classic hardware
- Strong communication skills and ability to interpret creative feedback from a detail-oriented artist
- Ability to deliver high-quality masters within agreed timelines
- Experience with both digital and analog workflows is highly desirable
- Availability for ongoing collaboration and potential follow-up work
