About The Role
We are seeking to appoint a Software Engineer (SE) on a full-time basis for an initial period of four months, with the possibility of extension for an additional three months, subject to approval. This role is part of an innovative UK/Singapore project funded by InnovateUK, titled Safety with Sensor AI and Network Environments for the Construction Industry (Saine-CI). Led by Dr. Tillman Weyde in collaboration with AITIS Ltd and Iknaia Ltd, the project aims to develop AI-driven construction safety systems utilizing knowledge graphs in conjunction with machine learning models applied to camera and sensor data. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating methods for knowledge-based assessment of machine learning applications on video, audio, and other data collected from construction sites. The role involves working with knowledge representations in OWL and RDF, as well as testing and deploying these systems in live environments to improve safety and operational efficiency.

Qualifications
- A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field
- Proficiency in programming with Python
- Experience with Semantic Web technologies such as OWL and RDF
- Knowledge of logic and knowledge representation techniques
- Strong interest or passion for developing AI and knowledge-based technologies
- Experience working with sensor data, video, and audio analysis is desirable
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities
- Design and implement algorithms for knowledge-based evaluation of machine learning models applied to construction site data
- Develop and manage knowledge representations using OWL and RDF frameworks
- Evaluate AI systems in live construction environments to ensure safety and effectiveness
- Collaborate with project partners to integrate AI solutions with sensor and camera data streams
- Conduct research and experimentation to improve knowledge graph applications in real-world scenarios
- Document technical processes and contribute to project reports and publications
- Stay updated with advancements in AI, Semantic Web, and sensor technology fields
