About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the development and implementation of advanced AI and machine learning systems across Bumble’s suite of products. In this role, you will define the technical strategy for recommendation, ranking, and personalization algorithms that enhance user engagement, safety, and overall experience. Your expertise will drive the design, development, and deployment of scalable, production-grade models leveraging modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch. You will be instrumental in building AI agents utilizing large language models (LLMs), integrating them with sub-agents, tools, and MCP systems to deliver innovative solutions. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, mentorship of senior contributors, and championing responsible AI practices to ensure fairness, transparency, and safety. You will also oversee the end-to-end development of ML pipelines, integrating data processing tools like Spark and Airflow, and driving experimentation frameworks to continually optimize model performance. This is a strategic leadership position suitable for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in AI and machine learning, who is passionate about leveraging technology to create impactful user experiences.

Qualifications
- 10–15 years of experience in machine learning, data science, or related fields, with a proven track record of deploying large-scale AI systems in production environments
- Deep expertise in machine learning, including recommendation systems, ranking models, and natural language processing (NLP)
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with major ML frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow
- Hands-on experience in prompting and fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs) and building production AI Agents
- Extensive experience designing scalable data and ML pipelines using tools like Spark, Airflow, or similar distributed systems
- Proven ability to influence technical strategy and decision-making as a senior individual contributor
- Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Data leadership
- Experience mentoring and developing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning
- Strong understanding of responsible AI practices, including fairness, transparency, and user safety considerations
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex, ambiguous projects from inception to impact
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the technical strategy for AI and machine learning systems that power recommendations, ranking, and personalization across Bumble products
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable, reliable models using modern ML frameworks, ensuring high performance in high-traffic environments
- Build and deploy AI agents utilizing large language models, sub-agents, tools, and MCP integrations to enhance product capabilities
- Architect end-to-end ML pipelines, integrating data processing workflows with model training, evaluation, and deployment processes
- Drive experimentation efforts, including A/B testing and offline evaluations, to optimize model performance and product outcomes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business challenges into impactful ML solutions, influencing strategic decisions
- Mentor and elevate senior team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence, curiosity, and continuous improvement
- Champion responsible AI practices, ensuring ethical considerations and safety are integrated into all systems
- Take ownership of complex initiatives, managing projects from insights to measurable impact with an agile approach
