Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to lead and oversee the organisation’s anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF), and financial crime compliance framework.
The successful candidate will have strong practical experience operating within a regulated environment, ideally within the gambling or gaming sector, and will be comfortable engaging with senior management, operational teams, regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders.
Previous experience supporting, preparing for, or participating in a UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) compliance assessment or audit would be a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the organisation’s designated MLRO and principal point of contact for AML, CTF, and financial crime matters.
- Maintain and continuously improve the organisation’s AML and CTF framework, policies, procedures, controls, and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with applicable UK legislation, UKGC Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP), UKGC AML guidance, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Review and assess internal suspicious activity reports and determine whether external Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) should be submitted to the National Crime Agency (NCA).
- Maintain appropriate records relating to AML investigations, SAR decisions, customer risk assessments, enhanced due diligence, and source of funds/source of wealth reviews.
- Oversee customer risk-rating methodologies and ensure higher-risk customers receive appropriate enhanced due diligence and ongoing monitoring.
- Provide guidance on complex AML matters, including unusual transaction patterns, value cycling, third-party payments, source of funds concerns, and other financial crime indicators.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure policies and operational procedures are updated where required.
- Prepare regular AML and financial crime reporting for senior management and the Board.
- Deliver or oversee AML training and ensure relevant employees understand their regulatory responsibilities.
- Work closely with Compliance, Responsible Gambling, Payments, Fraud, Operations, Customer Service, and senior management.
- Support regulatory inspections, compliance assessments, audits, information requests, and remediation programmes.
- Assist with the preparation of documentation and evidence requested by the UK Gambling Commission or other relevant regulatory authorities.
- Track identified compliance issues through to resolution and ensure appropriate remedial actions are documented and completed.
- Promote a strong compliance culture while ensuring controls remain practical, proportionate, and risk-based.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
