Compensation: £36,951 + Benefits – Gross OTE £52,918 + Golden Hello

Role Type: Full-time / Permanent Role ID: SF72924

About the Role

Shape the Future of National Security – One Weld at a Time

At Babcock, we work to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us as an MMA (Manual Metal Arc) Welder at the historic Devonport Royal Dockyard, you’ll contribute to the operation of the biggest naval base in Western Europe, supporting the Royal Navy for over 700 years.

Your role will be at the centre of major shipbuilding, submarine, and infrastructure projects. You’ll use your expertise to ensure the fabrication, repair, and structural integrity of naval vessels and heavy engineering assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply Manual Metal Arc (MMA) welding to heavy-duty marine and structural components
  • Work on submarines, surface ships, dockside infrastructure, and controlled factory environments
  • Operate welding and fabrication equipment to consistently high standards
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, procedures, and technical specifications
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, focusing on safety and performance targets

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
